"CLAMP-150" Clamp To Anything Portable Mount for Mobile Antennas

Portable / ORP antenna base that clamps to almost any horizontal or vertical surface up to 9 inches thick

The photo above shows the CLAMP-150 with the optional "AMB-Gnd-1" GROUND RADIAL BRACKET with four 10-12 ft. telescoping whips for a very effective ground counterpoise and a VERY LARGE Hi Q Antennas RT-5/160 motorized antenna that tunes 160-10m. The clamping surface is a wood railing on my deck - clamped to a 4x4 inch post.

NOTHING ELSE ON THE PLANET IS LIKE THE CLAMP-150 - for QRP, portable and fixed-base mobile HF/V/UHF antenna setups!

Folks, the "CLAMP-150" ("CLAMP") is a REALLY UNIQUE way to mount 1 or 2 (with optional arm) mobile antennas at a QRP, fixed-base or portable antenna location, where you have almost any flat surface that will support your antenna! You don't need a tripod or mast. This may be just the solution for travel antennas, QRP, deed restricted neighborhoods and EMCOMM. It is my personal solution for travel and QRP antennas, developed after years of playing around with various portable/travel antenna setups. It's small and light weight, and quickly dissassembles to approximately 6 inches x 15 inches - fits in small suitcases and "go bags". Best of all, you can work DX at QRP power levels!

While designed for HAM RADIO mobile antennas, it will also work well with COMMERCIAL and CB RADIO mobile antennas! It's also very useful for EMCOMM where you don't have a mobile antenna base but have a surface to mount your antenna to!

The CLAMP-150 quickly clamps to almost any VERTICAL, SLANTED or HORIZONTAL flat surface from 1/2 inch to 9 inches thick (yes, 9 inches!). The antenna can be rotated to accomodate various surfaces and if you want to tilt the antenna, such as to clear the roof gutter when mounted to a deck railing. No other portable antenna mount can attach to such a wide variety of surfaces! This continues our philosophy of designing and manufacturing truly unique one-of-a-kind products. As with all of our products, the CLAMP is blueprinted and replacement parts are available. Also unique, is that we have interchangeable antenna bases to support just about any mobile antenna up to medium size HF screwdriver/motorized antenna: 3/8x24 stud, NMO and SO239 bases - all with a connector for your PL259 coax plug! The CLAMP comes with your choice of connector and you order a second or all three, since all bolt into a 3/4" hole with the provided hardware and heavy-duty nuts.

The CLAMP can be mounted in about one minute, without tools (for larger antennas you should tighten the wing nuts with a plyers). Wing nuts are provided on both ends for quick installation and removal for your portable antenna setup.

The CLAMP is made of 6061 and 6063 aluminum with 18-8 stainless steel hardware. It comes in bare aluminum. The "clamping surfaces" have a weather and wear resistant EDPM rubber layer to provide maximum grip while protecting the clamping surface. Every detailed is considered! It also has TWO (2) ground locations and an optional "ground radial ring" also can be used - a ground counterpoise is critical for good performance. Also available is a V/UHF ground radial system with NMO base! Attention to detail!

Some of the "other brand" portable mounts do not have a good (if any) provision for HF/V/UHF ground radial system and therefore will under perform our CLAMP series of mounts.

The CLAMP-150 comes STANDARD with ONE antenna base, as selected when you place your order below. If you would like to order a second or third antenna base, you can also do so below. All come with the hardware to fit into the 3/4 inch diameter hole, which allows you to switch bases if you have antennas that require different bases. All come with very heavy-duty parts:

• 3/8x24 stud base is the heaviest duty we could find and is rated by the manufacturer for well over 2,000 watts.
• NMO and SO239 bases come with heavy-duty nuts and large stainless steel washer(s) - something that NO ONE ELSE provides with these types of bases. This hardware enables them to fit into the same hole as the stud base - change antennas >> change the base with ease! We pay attention to details, which is one reason why our products are HIGH PERFORMANCE!

Here's WHAT YOU NEED to set up your one antenna system with the CLAMP-150:

• flat surface to attach the CLAMP that will support your antenna and counterpoise safely (see above list of mounting surfaces)
• your antenna (see above list, majority of HF, V/UHF mobile antennas acceptable)
• antenna screws directly into the base provided with the CLAMP (select whichever you need, when ordering, all 3 common types available) - no insulating washers needed
• use whatever whip you want on top of your antenna if required (e.g. screwdriver antenna)
• your coax - standard PL259 plug connects directly into the base of all of our antenna bases
• ground counterpoise
• standard: two ground points with HD solder lug (accepts 16-12 gauge wire) provided with CLAMP - your inexpensive stranded wire soldered to the solder lug (four or more lengths each at least 10 ft. long or 1/4 wave length)
• optional: our telescoping whip ground counterpoise bracket - your whips with standard 3/8x24 stud, telescoping or not, any length (MFJ and Buddipole, for example, provide telescoging whips up to 12 ft. long - see LINKS  page)
• SWR matching device for HF antennas tuning 160-80m - adding inductance for antennas near the ground
• wind your own coil (dimensions not critical but must tune for low band)
• our SHUNT100 weather proof and easy to tune with clip
• our "Parts-Coil-01" coil/clip (heart of the SHUNT100 without the weatherproof housing/bracket)

• switchable matching device

The following OPTIONS  are available for the CLAMP-150, and DISCOUNTED if purchased with the CLAMP-150.

• AMB-Gnd-1: Ground "ring" bracket for installing four (4) of your telescoping whips or "CB" whips, up to 12 feet long each with the standard 3/8x24 threads, for an effective ground counterpoise. Without this option, you can simply connect your own wire ground counterpoise to one of the two (2) provided heavy-duty solder lugs that come standard with the CLAMP-150.    

• AMB-Arm2: Second antenna bracket arm with four removable ground radials, for mobile antennas with a NMO base, for 135-512 mHz. It quickly bolts to the CLAMP-150 with the provided 1/4" bolt and wing nut. With this option and the appropriate antennas, you can cover 160m all the way to 70cm, with two mobile antennas (see list above)!    

• Additional Antenna Bases with SO239 jack for coax plug:  The CLAMP-150 comes with ONE antenna base of your choice. You can order two or all three, as they are interchangeable. All come with the heavy-duty hardware to fit the 3/4 inch diameter hole and are high quality. See the photos and detailed information above.
• 3/8x24 stud mount - heaviest duty we could find and is rated by the manufacturer for well over 2,000 watts.
• NMO and SO239 - come with heavy-duty nuts and stainless steel washer(s) - something that NO ONE ELSE provides with these types of bases

• HF load inductor for adjusting SWR: We provide two options if your antenna SWR is too high at resonance, and needs additional inductance to lower the SWR. Both options will work 160 - 10m, and only require tuning once.
• SHUNT-100: load inductor in weather proof case (most of the "other brand" devices are not weather resistant).
• PARTS-Coil-1: coil and silver plated coil clip with screw from the SHUNT100; can be purchased without the case.

Ground "ring" bracket for installing four (4) of your telescoping whips or "CB" whips, up to 12 feet long each with standard 3/8x24 threads, for an effective ground counterpoise. Without this option, you can connect your own wire ground counterpoise to the two (2) provided heavy-duty solder lugs that come standard with the CLAMP-150. The "ring ground" bolts to the CLAMP via provided stainless steel hardware.

Second antenna bracket arm with four (4) removable V/UHF ground radials (135-512 mHz) for using your V/UHF antenna as a SECOND antenna on the CLAMP-150. It quickly bolts to the CLAMP-150 with the provided 1/4" bolt and wing nut. With this option and the appropriate antennas, you can cover 160m all the way to 70cm, with two mobile antennas (see list above).   This is all  you need to mount your V/UHF NMO antenna, and your coax plugs into the connector at the bottom of the mount (see middle photo below).  The extension arm is 13 inches long x 1.25 inches wide and .25 inches thick, and is made of 6061 aluminum.

The SHUNT-100 HF load inductor is for lowering the SWR at antenna resonance on the low HF bands. Most HF mobile antennas, if relatively efficient, will require adjustment of the SWR on the 160, 80 and sometimes 40m bands (assuming your antenna tunes these bands - it will not help if your antenna is not designed for any of these bands). Once adjusted it does NOT have to be adjusted on the other bands, and is "invisible" on the upper HF bands. It comes with a weather resistant case, with aluminum and stainless steel hardware.
